Dr Farhang Morady led the study trip from the University of Westminster and Giorgi Tsiklauri from SANGU. University facilities in Tbilisi were provided by SANGU.
The visit included lectures by academic staff from SANGU on subjects ranging from Georgian transition to economic development, tourism, democracy and foreign policy.
The students visited parliament, the foreign office, Transparency International Georgia and a non-governmental organisation as well as cultural and historical centres and museums. They also met the Georgian foreign minister and vice-prime minister.
Dr Farhang Morady said, “This was a fantastic experience both in terms of academic content and social and cultural interactions. This joint academic activity provided students with a rare opportunity to be taught by specialist staff in Georgia.”
Professor Sergo Vardosanidze from SANGU said, “It is a great delight that our university could host the students and professors of the University of Westminster. This initial interaction was characterised with a cooperative spirit for building a future friendship.”
